Angie’s List

Angies List Has a Poor Business Model

Cock-Blocker!

I was talking to a customer earlier today and he asked me if his review helped any. I had no idea what he was talking about. “The one I gave you on Angie’s List.”, he declared. I have no reviews that I can see when I visit anomalously or when I log in as a customer. However when I log in as a contractor I see that there are TWO reviews. But there is a notice that reads “This report wasn’t submitted by an Angie’s List member. It is unverified and won’t show on Angie’s List. Non-member reports don’t factor in to current or overall grades”.

So, customers I send to Angie’s List to write a review for me HAVE to be members of their review will not be posted and I won’t receive any ranking. So I’m soliciting for Angie!? You know, their service is horse shit!

I’m going to campaign where ever I go, be it monthly contractor networking events in Kentucky and Indiana, at special person’s day at my grandson’s elementary school, while I’m getting a colonoscopy! Everywhere I go that everyone fire up their blog, LinkedIN, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, directories, etc. and share how poor their business model is. I’m going to stir the hornet’s nest!

We contractors work too gawd-damn hard and when a customer gives us a little loving – Angie’s List has gotta cock-block it because they are not a member!

What it boils down to is this: Angie’s List has a poor business model where they take advantage of hard working contractors out of desperation looking for work and get them to solicit memberships for Angie’s List. No matter how hard you jump through their hoops – no sign up? Better luck next time, chump.

Believe me, I’ve been with Angie’s List three years. Last year I called Angie’s List wanting to know what the deal was. I joined. Offered to pay for a premium listing. No, you have to ask members to write in. Angie’s List members don’t hire me, because I’m not found on Angie’s list because I have no reviews. The more reviews you have the further up the list you move. O’kay, so they tell me to refer my customers to them. All they have to do is fill out online, or on a form I give them, a review. Online and on the form I see the “Join Angie’s List” mumbo-jumbo. But it’s okay, they don’t have to be a member, Angie’s List assures me.

O’kay, I work the program. I WORK THE PROGRAM. Finally people are sending in reviews. BUT THEIR NOT MEMBERS. Again, this is what I get: “This report wasn’t submitted by an Angie’s List member. It is unverified and won’t show on Angie’s List. Non-member reports don’t factor in to current or overall grades“.

Angie’s List, really?
