Whenever I light up a Nicaraguan Sun Grown cigar, I remember how much I enjoy them.
After toasting, this cigar lit nicely, burned evenly, and smoked smoothly. There was no tongue bite or lingering harsh aftereffects. It was Earthly and spicy, with a cedar base, and medium to full-bodied with a tangy finish. This baby cost me $5.59—no complaints here.

Pre-Light Experience
From the first draw, the tobacco’s natural sweetness sets the stage for a well-balanced and flavorful smoke.
Flavor Profile
You get a smooth blend of sweet and spicy notes from the first puff, but nothing overpowering. The rich yet refined flavors make this a perfect option for those who enjoy a medium-bodied smoke with depth and complexity. I enjoyed it down to the nub, which says a lot about how satisfying this cigar is.
Originally the 2012 Cigar of the Year, and I can absolutely see why. If you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favor and light one up—you won’t regret it!
Nicaraguan Sun Grown
This has quickly become one of my all-time favorites—easily one of the best Don Pepín blends I’ve had. I initially loved it before realizing it was a My Father Cigar. There’s been “smack talk” about My Father Cigar, which I’m not getting into here.
Final Thoughts
This one stands out as one of my favorites. It’s full of flavor but not overwhelming. This is a great choice if you typically enjoy lighter, medium-bodied cigars but want to explore something with more complexity without being too strong.

It’s a nice day today and this cigar is still a nice smoke.
