The 5 Vegas Classic is one thing. The La Herencia Cubana is another. Unfortunately, this one simply never came together for me.
Going into the smoke, I expected much more. The cigar looked promising enough, and the heritage-inspired branding suggested a rich, traditional smoking experience. Sadly, the reality fell well short of expectations.
From the first light, the flavor profile felt muted and uninspired. I kept waiting for the cigar to develop some depth, complexity, or a defining characteristic that would make it memorable, but it never really happened. There were faint earthy tobacco notes throughout the smoke and perhaps a touch of spice here and there, but overall the flavor remained disappointingly flat.
Construction did not help matters.
The cigar consistently burned unevenly from start to finish, requiring more attention than any smoker should have to give a cigar in this price range. While a wavy burn can sometimes be forgiven if the flavors are exceptional, that simply was not the case here. The performance issues only amplified the disappointment.
What ultimately sealed its fate for me, however, was the finish. Long after setting the cigar down, an unpleasant aftertaste lingered on my tongue. It wasn’t catastrophic, but it was persistent enough to negatively affect my memory of the entire experience.
At $4.80 a stick, I was not expecting a masterpiece. But I was expecting more than this.
There are plenty of cigars in the same price range that offer better flavor, better construction, or ideally both. Unfortunately, the La Herencia Cubana delivered neither for my palate.
Not every cigar can be a winner, and this one simply wasn’t. A disappointing smoke that I have no intention of revisiting.
