Sanctuary Board Game Review

My wife and I have played Sanctuary five times now, and we both really enjoy it. It offers some of the same appeal as Ark Nova, one of our favorite board games, but in a much lighter and more approachable package.

The gameplay is simple and straightforward, so it does not take long to get started. However, simple does not mean mindless. Throughout the game, you are faced with plenty of interesting decisions about which animals to add, how to develop your sanctuary, and how to make the most of each turn.

That balance is what makes Sanctuary work so well. It provides enough strategy to keep us engaged without the longer setup, heavier rules, and extended playing time of Ark Nova. After five plays, we are still enjoying it and looking forward to getting it back to the table.

For couples or families who enjoy strategic board games but want something lighter and easier to play, Sanctuary is well worth checking out.
