ACID Toast
Over Memorial Day weekend, I decided to smoke an ACID cigar by Drew Estate — specifically, the ACID Toast — and I have to admit, it was a far more interesting experience than I expected.
For those unfamiliar with the ACID line, these cigars are anything but traditional. The tobaccos are cured for months in what Drew Estate calls cuarto aromaticos, or “aroma rooms,” where they are infused with the essence of more than 150 herbs, essential oils, and botanicals before they are ever rolled. Handmade in Nicaragua using all-natural ingredients, ACID cigars are designed to deliver a completely different smoking experience from your typical premium cigar. What’s especially interesting is that each size and blend within the ACID line develops its own unique flavor and aroma profile.
The Toast itself was a very mild, smooth, and aromatic cigar. From the first draw, it delivered a sweet, creamy smoke with subtle floral and herbal undertones that lingered pleasantly in the air. Somewhere in the mix, I kept picking up what seemed like a faint hint of cherry or dark fruit — very subtle, but enough to stand out and add a little intrigue to the flavor profile. It was not overpowering or artificial tasting the way some infused cigars can become. Instead, everything felt balanced and surprisingly refined.
Construction was excellent. The cigar burned evenly from start to finish and produced a thick, fragrant plume of smoke that drifted beautifully through the air. The draw remained smooth and effortless throughout the smoke, making it an easy cigar to sit back and enjoy without much thought or attention.
Now, cigar purists will probably debate whether infused cigars belong in the same conversation as more traditional blends, but honestly, sometimes a cigar is simply about enjoyment — and the ACID Toast was undeniably enjoyable. It is not a cigar I would smoke every day, but it absolutely has its place, especially on a relaxed afternoon or evening when you want something flavorful, unique, and a little different from the norm.
Purchased individually, these usually run around $8 a stick. However, I recently picked up an ACID limited-edition sampler tin containing 14 cigars for roughly $3.57 each, which felt like a steal given the quality and variety. I’m genuinely looking forward to working my way through the sampler and seeing how the different ACID blends compare.
Definitely an enjoyable and memorable smoke.
