Gurkha Legend
The Gurkha Legend delivered a surprisingly flavorful and interesting smoking experience — one that balanced spice, sweetness, and earthiness better than I expected.
From the start, the wrapper carried a mildly spicy character that immediately came through in the smoke without becoming harsh or overpowering. The draw was smooth and comfortable throughout, producing rich clouds of smoke that allowed the cigar’s flavors to unfold gradually and naturally.
What stood out most to me was the unique flavor combination layered throughout the smoke. Early on, I picked up a dark black cherry note lingering beneath the spice — subtle, but noticeable enough to add an unexpected sweetness to the cigar’s earthy core. Alongside that came notes of pepper, dark tobacco, wood, and rich earth, giving the cigar a fuller, more robust personality.
And then there was something else… something faintly herbal and sweet lingering in the background that kept reminding me of licorice. Strange perhaps, but cigar flavors have a funny way of pulling random memories and associations from somewhere deep in the palate, and that distinct hint of licorice seemed to weave itself in and out throughout the smoke.
The overall profile leaned medium-to-full-bodied while remaining balanced enough to stay enjoyable from beginning to end. Nothing felt overly sharp or aggressive, allowing the sweeter, more unusual flavor notes to stand out even more.
At around $7.50 a stick, I felt the Gurkha Legend delivered a fairly solid experience for the price. It had enough complexity and personality to stand out from just another average medium-bodied cigar, and the unusual combination of black cherry, spice, earth, and licorice made it memorable in a good way.
Definitely one of the more interesting Gurkhas I’ve smoked.
