5 Vegas Gold Maduro
The 5 Vegas Gold Maduro turned out to be an interesting little smoke — one that showed flashes of real promise, even if this particular stick gave me a few frustrations along the way.
Wrapped in a dark, oily Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro wrapper over Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, the cigar immediately looked rich and inviting. The aroma alone hinted at sweetness and deep maduro character before it was even lit.
Once underway, the cigar delivered exactly the kind of mellow richness you would expect from a softer maduro blend. Smooth, slightly sweet flavors mixed with creamy coffee notes, subtle butteriness, earth, and a gentle pepper spice that lingered quietly in the background. On paper, butter, coffee, sweetness, and pepper may sound like a strange combination, but surprisingly, it worked fairly well together.
The smoke itself was smooth and relaxing rather than bold or aggressive. This is not a powerhouse Maduro trying to overwhelm your palate. Instead, it leans into creamy richness and mellow sweetness with enough spice to keep things interesting. Several reviewers describe similar profiles of coffee, cocoa, sweetness, cream, and pepper, so my experience seems fairly consistent with the blend’s intended character.
Unfortunately, the biggest issue with my particular cigar was burn performance.
This thing simply wouldn’t stay lit.
I found myself relighting it repeatedly throughout the smoke, which became increasingly frustrating as the session went on. Interestingly enough, I later discovered that several other reviewers reported similar burn issues with the 5 Vegas Gold Maduro line, including canoeing and repeated relights. So perhaps my experience was not entirely isolated.
That said, what little I was able to enjoy between relights was honestly not bad at all.
At around $3.20 a stick, the value is certainly there, especially considering the smooth flavor profile and creamy maduro character. If the burn issues were resolved, this could easily become a dependable budget-friendly everyday smoke.
Because of that, I’d definitely be willing to give this cigar another chance sometime down the road.

Trying this one again I found it to be smooth, not harsh and spicy like other 5 Vegas I’ve smoked. With hints of dark tobacco and white pepper. I smoked most of it but toward the end – I began to feel sick. Might have just been me. I’ll have to try this one again. Maybe three times is the charm?
