Cohiba Robustos
The Cohiba Robustos continues to remind me why it has earned such an iconic reputation among cigar enthusiasts worldwide.
From the very first draw, the cigar delivered thick, creamy clouds of smoke with a smooth, medium-bodied profile that felt refined and balanced from beginning to end. The flavors leaned into classic Cuban territory — rich tobacco, cedar, soft earth, subtle spice, and a natural sweetness that quietly lingered on the palate. Nothing about the cigar felt rushed or aggressive. Instead, it carried itself with the kind of effortless confidence you expect from a premium Cuban smoke.
What I especially enjoyed was the texture of the smoke itself. Dense, creamy, and velvety, it coated the palate beautifully while remaining incredibly smooth throughout. The burn stayed fairly even, the draw remained comfortable, and the overall construction felt solid and dependable.
Now, let’s be honest — these cigars are not cheap. Cohiba Robustos definitely fall into the premium price category, particularly when purchased internationally. Still, despite the expense, there is something undeniably satisfying about smoking a genuinely good Cuban cigar that makes it difficult not to come back for more.
And yes… I fully expect to buy more when I travel abroad again next month.
Of course, finding authentic Cohibas can sometimes feel like navigating a minefield. The counterfeit market surrounding Cuban cigars — especially Cohibas — is massive. The more I’ve researched the subject, the more I’ve realized just how many convincing forgeries are floating around out there. Because of that, I’ve spent quite a bit of time studying the details: box markings, warranty seals, band consistency, construction quality, serial numbers, and all the little things experienced collectors recommend watching for.
Hopefully, the homework pays off.
Either way, the hunt itself has become part of the experience. Wish me luck.
